Viewers could hear tremendous roaring sounds, all hell breaking loose as the old cliche goes, but what was seen were rather heavenly shots of Baghdad at dawn, with no dramatic visible counterpart to the explosive sounds. Just billowing blue clouds in a rather serene-looking sky.

While it was perhaps surprising to see any live pictures at all from Baghdad, the scenes shown on the networks were practically picture postcards. NBC and other networks did not have some of those greenish night shots (it was just becoming light in Iraq) but nothing that showed actual combat underway.
